outstanding volunteers 2008

"Volunteers are not paid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless."

Aside from December being the month dedicated to Overseas Filipino Workers, it is also dedicated to the other version of Pinoy modern heroes, the Volunteers.

Photos in the above slideshow were taken during the Awarding of the Outstanding Volunteers of the Year organized by the Philippine Association for Volunteer Efforts and the National Economic Development Authority held on December 8, 2008 at Manila Hotel.

Mark Aethen Agana (South Cotabato) is one of this year's awardees, in the Youth Category (that's me). Being a volunteer, it elated me very much being surrounded by fellow Filipinos who see volunteerism and community service a potential force of nationbuilding.

This National Award for Volunteerism I received is dedicated to my fellow volunteers in Mindanao. This is OUR fruit of love to realize and weave the dreams of the Youth in South Cotabato, guys. To the T'nalak Youth Group - Pathways to Higher Education, I salute you guys for continuing building paths for a better Mindanao. Padayon!

The true meaning of being a VOLUNTEER is hidden in the letters of the word. Scrabble and arrange the letters in the word and you will be surprised that TRUE LOVE N is formed, where N (for me) is NOW and NEIGHBORS. Thus, like Christ, volunteerism is an expression of true love for our brothers and should be acted now.

Mabuhay ang bawat Pilipinong Voluntir!

Btw, nakilala ko ang project head ng JVP during sa awarding sa Manila Hotel. Nakalimutan ko pangalan nya. Ayos.

Miss you very much, te Kix.

See you in our PAD in RP

jep, i never expect for this award. my primary intention is to serve.

maybe this search would be a venue to inspire others to share and impart in building our nations.

recognition is just highlighting the awardees to be models of true volunteerism.

I agree, the act to serve is important. also the impact it will create for betterment.

Yep, volunteer! You don't have to shout naman to the world that you are a volunteer or you do volunteering works. It is just an expression of true love.

I believe it's Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) and not PAVE as the lead agency in the Search for Outstanding Volunteers as well as the National Volunteers Month. PAVE is one of the members of the committee.
Aethen said…
Yeah! It's Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) not PAVE. Corrected.

Thanks.
