do not be late

Did you feel the rush to dress yourself, fail to eat, sacrifice taking bath, etc?

Did you experience waking up from bed few minutes before the time of your class? Or worst, few minutes behind schedule for your class plus not counting the time you have to travel from to reach your school but still motivated not to miss the class because you believe that it is better to be late than absent. Well that is too obedient to be for an outstanding school boy like me.

I am not “A” tardy student, oversleeping is just my problem. Just like this morning, I rushed to school for the reason that I pulled out myself from bed so early that I would miss the class. I haven’t taken my bath and eaten breakfast yet just to be there before dismissal. Yes, I always want to be present though marked sometimes as late.

When I reached our lecture room, I don’t know what and how to feel the situation, should I be happy or sad? Yes, I was late as always in this 10am class; but today is not the same as the other meetings. Today, I really put forth effort and sacrificed just to make it in class and to convince myself that being late is better than not attending classes.

Discernment in disappointment takes place. Should I be happy because I made it to class room before dismissal after all the sweat? Should I be sad because after all the energy used to race with time results to hearing the announcement that we don’t have the class today?

Since I am optimistic, I chose to be happy but not until I have checked the 16 unread text messages in my mobile phone which I never scanned since I got up in bed because I was in hurry to make it in school. I scanned through the text messages I received and there were 4 text messages (which I received earlier before I woke up) from two of my graduate classmates informing me that we don’t have class today. I laughed myself to my being foolhardly. Yeah, I realized that sometimes it is cool and better to be absent than to be late and kill yourself to be in school.

Hahaha. I don't think Dr. Caro will hold classes this week because it's the Y4IT 2008 this week (simpleng pag-plug hehe).

@gian paolo - Hahaha. 'yong pin na 4 sale sa booth nyo ay simple lng pero meaningful. Sana maubos nayan para hindi na ako kulitin nabumili. hehe. :P

@abou - Awts. natamaan naman ako. Time is my friend naman but considering other people, it should be valued.

I'll be punctual from now on. :)

Oi, kahit hindi naman ako naligo, mabango naman ako. Hehe. :P

@lawstud - Alarms does not work with me. I usually kill them off after few seconds then sleep. Pero sometimes, gumigising tlga ako on time kahit pagod just to make it in time.

We are not superman who has immense power to work on all things and not getting tired. We are humans who need to take enough rest and sleep to continue living. Pero huwag lng magpasarap ng tulog (which i usually do) haha.

@aethen o galing ka na? When? Uh parang kumakain nga ang mga tao dun ng button pins. Nakakaubos kami ng 300 pins in 4 hours. hahaha. pero kailangan mo pa rin bumili. :p

wow... that was a very classic story. kahit kanino yatang tao ngyari na yan...except siguro sa last part na wala palang pasok! hahaha! kaya ako kapag dapat maaga akong gigising, putol putol ang tulog ko. kasi takot akong hindi magising sa oras. marami na kasi akong experiences that involves being late, including being humiliated infront of a whole class, etc..hehe!

i can't go without leaving any comment..

mali ata pag gamit mo ng "foolhardiness", noun kasi siya eh..siguro mas appropriate ang "foolhardy", as in "I laughed at myself for being foolhardy" or something to that effect.. or better yet, gamitin mo nalang ang foolish o foolishness.. hehehe..

prior to reading your post, i just had mine, of the same topic. just had my blog after three months.. and my fourth post since i had an account.. lols!

nwei, mabuhay ang mga laging late!
magbagong buhay na tayo..!!! xD

@RONeiluke, RN - usual story of not so punctual people. Hehe. Pero bad trip lng tlga na wlang pasok that day. Masaya pa naman ako na nakarating before end of class. hehe.

Yeah. experience is the best teacher. :)

@WiLfReD - Salamat sa comment at correction ha. Yeah, thanks for reading it. I knw that you can relate to it, parati ka kasing late. Haha.

have u tried using an alarm clock? If 1 doesn't work or if u belong to that gp who'll tap it to snooze mode, use 3 clocks set at 2 mins interval placed very far from yor bed. welll if that doesn't work still, see a doc. Haha.

@sho - I am setting four (4) alarms just to make sure to get out from bed but sometimes I am just lazy to just ignore all of the alarms or most often kill them all then go back to sleep. But hey, this is no sickness, am just wasting my time and see if I'll learn something. Hehe. Weird. Yes, I am.

Thanks for the suggestion.

@Ayel - Hahaha. Oo nga. "filipino time" is the rule but it should not be tolerated. Hay. It is not a good practice, yel. but missing doing it is a sure another story.

Magbago ka na din. hehe.

Oo nga enjoy lng. :P

Miss you all, guys.

yea, i've experienced the famous filipino time while working w the Rotary clubs in Manila on school community projects. i must say they were incredibly interesting. haha.
Aethen said…
hey, sho! actually there is no such as 'filipino time' attitude in our culture. We only not valuing time as much as others do. Americans come on time and value it because it mean to them as business and respect.

Hope filipinos can do the same. I hope I can do the same. and you also. :)

what i do, time is of essence. yeah.

Anyhow, I just hate morning class... It forces me not to go out late at night...I miss my NIGHT LIFE!
