Paraiso Verde Resort and Water Park: Mindanao’s Largest Wave Pool Is In Koronadal City

Image
I am a very beach or outdoorsy person, but there’s one thing that excites me, a world-class tourist destination in my beloved hometown in Mindanao. Paraiso Verde Resort and Water Park has been teasing the public with the promise of a world-class resort and water park that will be the biggest in Mindanao and one of the best in the world. Paraiso Verde boasts of four exciting water attractions: Moby Wave Pool , the largest wave pool in Mindanao that features a giant water bucket; Adventura River Rapids which will take you on an adrenaline filled watery ride; Wiggles Kiddie Pool for your little ones; and Freestyle Swim Pool for no-frills swimming for fitness and recreation purposes. Sounds absolutely fun, right? Paraiso Verde spells pure fun for everyone. Paraiso Verde is now open to the public and is having regular events every week. This is one of the best barkada / family get-away for a big fun in Mindanao! My personal favorite among the water attractions is the wave ...

Scholars Upscale Social Marketing To Promote Hero Farmers

Image
Can you imagine life without farmers? A team of scholars from the Young Minds Academy (YMA) Season 5 leadership program can’t. They harnessed the power of marketing strategies mostly through the new media to promote a farmer empowerment project in Consolacion, Cebu. Because of the on-going training that the farmers are undergoing, they will soon yield better and abundant harvests in their respective farms all over Cebu. The online community has been abuzz with the iluvfarmers farmers campaign that champions hero farmers in Cebu. About KabalikatsaKabuhayan Team CPMPC of the YMA program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. created a campaign for the “KabalikatsaKabuhayan.” The project aims to educate farmers in vegetable and fruit production and innovations as part of the poverty alleviation goals of the Municipality of Consolacion. Around 120 farmers go to the 5,000 square meter demo farm site in Brgy. Danglag to learn from the trainers from Harbest Agribusiness Corporation and...

SAVE PHILIPPINE DRAGONBOAT

Image
Sharing with you a letter below written by a fellow paddler for the President to Save the Philippine Dragon boat sport. I hope to help the federation by spreading and making this issue reach media's attention. Dear Mr. President, We would like to seek help from your office to give immediate attention and guidance to the current situation of the dragon boat sport in this country. The Filipino dragon boat paddlers under the supervision of the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation or PDBF brought home numerous international awards in this sport, defending WORLD CHAMPIONS and WORLD RECORD HOLDER to name a few, yet the Philippine Sports Commission under the leadership of SOMEONE CLOSE TO YOU do not recognize the federation, stripped down all its rights as member of NSA without due process, and created a separate dragon boat national team under the the Philippine Canoe Kayak Federation or PCKF. Current statistics show that PCKF has around 40-50 members only compared to PDBFs more t...

the king and the prince

“Mothers give their sons permission to be a prince but the father must show him how…” I am a prince, and my father's the king and it was his birthday yesterday. It was tatay 's 52nd birthday yesterday. Last day also was the first time I greeted him heart-fully and spoken to him the words, I love you and thank you but was not emotional . Yes, I have never been that expressive and open to him since the end of his dictatorship – last year, I received self-declared freedom and signed a mutual treaty with him that both would raise a white flag and surrender our armaments. It was an absolute relief having revived the healthy relationship with him but I am also missing the silent and strategic battle we fought against each other. Funny but that was how we dealt with each other over the past years. He had almost always opposed my ideas and my philosophies never ceased to contrast with his. We seldom meet in the center and agree for one thing –save, maybe food preference....

How can we save this planet?

Image
Talk of ‘saving the planet’ doesn’t make sense. The Earth has been and always will be in a state of flux. It drives and is driven by nature (including us). The question is will we save ourselves or will we join the long list of extinct species that have walked this Earth?

Boracay Skimboarding

Image
Skimboarding is cool and it hurts not that much since you got to fall in water or sand. Getting throated like sooooo would not convince me to put down this sport. I cannot even distinguish the last time I had a perfect ride. For I always got bruises…bloods! Baranggurangan tricks! LOL. Skimboarding at Puka Beach and Boracay Island I'm always amazed seeing friends raised up in waves and barrel. Gliding the roof and standing straight up with slight arch on their back. Like a little kid who happened to have a new toy, I set aside ...

Of saving myself then the world

Image
Last week, a mentor-friend and I had a good conversation about my career direction in life for 2011. Our chat made me realized a major decision that I have to make in the near future. For those who don’t know what keeps me busy aside from my day job and graduate study, this post will tell you how I gave my heart to social development and community work for the past 5 years. In the discourse of or chat we talked about my career and commitments. (Actually I’m worried that I’m not going anywhere and I’m behind in reaching my targets and goals in life.) […] Friend: You have already given 2 years of your life (to helping others) tama na yun... (That’s enough) Me: : ) I know. And I love to keep doing it. Friend: And the first 2 years of your life out of college is very crucial to further your career so focus on your work now... focus focus focus.... in the end...saving the world is as important as saving your life Me: I'm just being stubborn right now. I’m giving...

Are Filipinos Stupid?

Image
Why would a fellow Filipino described “Filipinos are stupid”? This happened on one of my wall posts regarding the topic of DOT's marketing strategy for tourism. The conversation was diverted to blaming Filipinos being stupid. If you are concerned about this thought, care to share your findings?

Venus Raj's black elbow

Image
I have nothing against Venus Raj, in fact, I'm a big fan of her. I admire her as a good role model and being a Filipina beauty queen. She was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Universe on March 6, 2010 during the pageant's Grand Coronation Night at the Araneta Coliseum. She represented the Republic of the Philippines in the 2010 Miss Universe pageant and placed fourth runner-up to Ximena Navarrete of Mexico. My friend, S, took these photos in an event where Venus Raj was hosting. S commented about Venus' black elbow. She laughed about it, seeing the impurity on Venus' elbow. Venus is actually has pretty face and X-factor personality but she's not flawless at all. But these does not make me love her less as a person I look up to. I'll still be your major major fan.

Joey Pepperoni Pizzaria: How Pizza Pasta should be!

Image
Joey Pepperoni Pizzaria   Joey Pepperoni Pizzaria is a casual restaurant that specializes in its distinctive take on contemporary Italian-American cuisine. Dinning in at Joey Pepperoni is a sure satisfaction to those who crave enduring delights such as pasta – at affordable prices, to boot. In short, Joey Pepperoni offers a premium dining experience at non-premium cost. This is how they prepare Pizza Pasta Leading the resto’s offering is its Fresh Dough, Tin Crust Pizza, which comes in delectable options and Premio Pizze choices. Carbonara is my personal favorite among their variety of sumptuous Pasta and Premio Pasta offering – it’s a must try. with Chef Chef Giorgio Bucciarelli I find Joey Pepperoni experience whetting my appetite to keep coming back for more. In a night with friends, I was able to talk to the Executive Chef Giorgio Bucciarelli, a Milan, Italy-raised Master Pizzaiolo-Italian chef who shared his culinary services and savvy to Joey Pepperoni for almost 3 yea...

2010 Bayaning Kabataang Pilipino

Image
2010 Gawad Geny Lopez Jr. Bayaning Kabataang Pilipino Masasabing si Mark ay isang “dynamic youth for a relevant change through academic excellence amidst poverty”.

Malaysia! I'll be back!

Image
I’ll be back to Malaysia again soon! I need to taste different curry more.   Petronas Tower Here are few reasons why I need to visit Malaysia again: You can haggle to get to the fabled “best price". Go to china town and enjoy bargaining! It has a good mix of westernization and the exotic east. You can smoke cuban cigars in the Havana Club. If I’ve read the laws correctly, the legality of Americans smoking cuban cigars even in foreign countries is questionable, but happily, they don’t check your passport when you smoke one. It’s inexpensive. Malaysia is Not So Great Because… Your freedom of speech is in question. Though you’re not likely to be hassled in any way by the authorities (they love tourists), I’d advise against doing your Che Guevara impersonation and loudly announcing your anti-establishment leanings. The taxi drivers will gouge you. This is a weak one, but I’m all out of bad things to say about Malaysia. Must places to go are Paneng and Kuala Lum...
