Venus Raj's black elbow

Image
I have nothing against Venus Raj, in fact, I'm a big fan of her. I admire her as a good role model and being a Filipina beauty queen. She was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Universe on March 6, 2010 during the pageant's Grand Coronation Night at the Araneta Coliseum. She represented the Republic of the Philippines in the 2010 Miss Universe pageant and placed fourth runner-up to Ximena Navarrete of Mexico. My friend, S, took these photos in an event where Venus Raj was hosting. S commented about Venus' black elbow. She laughed about it, seeing the impurity on Venus' elbow. Venus is actually has pretty face and X-factor personality but she's not flawless at all. But these does not make me love her less as a person I look up to. I'll still be your major major fan.

EB Hero

Television’s longest running program is celebrating its 30th year in a special way by giving tribute to ordinary people whose deeds touch the world around them. Each deed may be quiet and small. But together, countless small actions can be likened to many lighted candles that can turn darkness to light. Each small and heartfelt action is like a seed that grows into a tree that bears many fruits. By showing the actions of ordinary heroes, Eat Bulaga hopes to influence positively the lives on millions of viewers. Last Saturday, 14 November 2009, I was one of the 10 Eat Bulaga Heroes selected from various sectors and areas all over the Philippines. In their 7th episode, a short documentary slash tribute about my civic activities and group, the T’nalak Youth Group was featured on primetime and national television. Muli, salamat at sinamahan niyo po kaming humabi ng mga pangarap para sa edukasyon ng lahat na kabataan na gustong makapagtapos ng pag-aaral. Batid po naming wala pon...

The New Hobby - Wakeboarding!

Image
Last week, we went to the South, CWC (CamSur WaterSports Complex), CamSur for a short vacation that was extended for 2 more days because of the typhoon threat in the province. It was indeed the coolest weekend ever! I learned the art of wakeboarding in their cable park there. I was inspired and was able to practice some stunts and played wakeboarding with a jump start. Now, it will be my new hobby and sport. On that vacation, I realized that wake boarding was a good athletic exercise for abdomenal and body build up. I hope to do it often (with friends) as hobby. We also have witness the best Asians riders compete for the top rank in the 3rd stop of the Asian Wakepark Tour which is the 2nd Asian Wakepark Championship in CWC . We joined and watched also the premiere of Aquafrolics: A Wakeskate movie at the Poolside and party with the people there. Also pack of candies and fun were given to us for joining trick or treating in our last minute in the place before we went back to Manil...

Don't Ask Me to Kiss You, Because I will Movie Review

Image
This Spanish comedy film entitled No me pidas que te bese, porque te besaré ( Don't Ask Me to Kiss You, Because I will ) is about Albert who's repenting his decision to marry and takes guitar lessons with “special” people to distract himself before the wedding takes place or not. The story takes in making you think what makes us special and what makes us jerks. It is narrative and fun. You will find yourself laughing and feeling in love in the entire run of the film. This is my personal favorite among the film entries in this year's Pelicula Spanish Film Festival.

The Echo Movie Review

Image
“The next time you hear a knock at your door, be careful... you never know what's on the other side.” This acclaimed Filipino thriller Sigaw (The Echo) is remade into a movie-for-Hollywood. Yam Laranas, the co-writer and director for Sigaw, directed this remake. Screening begins September 30, 2009 here in Philippines and will star Jesse Bradford of the ‘Flags of our Fathers’ fame. On the premiere night, I found myself jumping on seat at certain scene. I admit Laranas had me freaked out. This feeling is reinforced when it occurs again and there is no child, just the camera hinting at the movements of someone. An excellent method of building unease in the audience, lighting and camerawork are excellent. I must also say, it is a real stunner -worth seeing at least once.

It’s a triple treat for film buffs as Instituto Cervantes de Manila brings back Película, the biggest annual Spanish Film Festival in Asia, at chosen venues in Metro Manila from October 1 to 31. Orphan Movie Review

Image
We went last night to see the movie, Orphan directed by Jaume Collet-Sera , and while it's creepy - I'll give it creepy - it's boringly fun. The movie is about Esther, the Orphan, and figuring out what is wrong with her. In the movie you’ll meet John and Kate ( parents who adopted Esther ) – plus hate! I say, Esther, is the female version of Good son/Damien the Omen without the horror touch to it. It also reminded me of the movie Joshua; the story partly runs the same only that Esther is an evil-orphan, while Joshua is a smart-jealous son. I say it again - it is creepy but overlong and muddled, Orphan is excessively sadistic and partly exceedingly stupid. Although reasonably, cheesily suspenseful, the movie takes a long time to get going. Its tagline, "There's something wrong with Esther," turns out to be a masterpiece of understatement. The movie draws us in by preying on parental fears and guilt, including the horrible things that can happen if you take yo...

Nunffnang Philippines has something special for lucky Nuffnangers who will be able to get a free ticket to the premiere of Burn After Reading , a 2008 comedy movie written, produced, and directed by brothers Joel and Ethan Coen . The movie Premiere on November 18, 2008, Tuesday 7:30pm at Robinsons Movie World, Robinsons Galleria. It would be a great day seeing the movie and the sexy stars, and meeting also fellow lucky nuffnagers who will be spying on the world’s sexiest men in the funniest spy film of the year’s Burn After Reading! Why watch the premiere? Aside from what I have said above, it’s Nuffnang Philippines’ first movie premiere project. adventure at star city

Image
Star City is the country’s premiere theme park and is located at Sotto St., CCP Complex Roxas Blvd., Pasay City. It has a 35,000 square meter area wherein the entertainment fields and amusement rides are found. From Left: Penny, Jomae, and Me in our log in Wild River. Last Night, I went there together with my friends, Jomae and Penny. We really have had great fun there and we tried all the rides there for only 450.00 pesos, ride all you can promo. Good thing, I have had my cash advance in my part time tutorial job. Among the rides I remembered that I enjoyed were the Wild River, Jungle log jam, 360-degree Zyklon Loop, Viking, Surf Dance, Bumper Cars, Galactic , and other few I can’t recall but my favorite of all is the Surf Dance and second to it is the Wild River. I’m amused also when we entered the very cold castle of ice which they called t he King of the Jungle (Ice Palace), and was horror-struck (a little bit) in Western Ghost Town and at Gabi ng Lagim , and was also entert...

the lettermen concert tour in marbel

Image
The Lettermen, "Live in Concert" at South Cotabato Gymnasium, Koronadal City on July 4, 2008, Friday. Twenty million records and seven thousand concert shows ago, three young men in letter sweaters hit the music charts with their first single, "The Way You Look Tonight." The soft, melodic tune was a departure from the hard-driving music of that day, but listener requests made it a must for disc jockey play lists all over the country. In almost every poll, The Lettermen became "Best Vocal Group" or "Best New Group." Hit after hit followed : "When I Fall in Love," "Theme From A Summer Place," "Put Your Head on My Shoulder," "Hurt So Bad," and "Shangri-La" as well as over fifty albums filled with special romantic Lettermen harmony. One of their better known songs, "Goin' Out of My Head/Can't Take My Eyes Off You," was a first of its kind when it was released; ...

cookey wins the AI 2008

Image
David Cook reacts to being announced the winner of 'American Idol' during the finale. American Idol 2008 concluded and declared the ex-bartender David Cook as the new idol. He virtually body-slammed teen prodigy David Archuleta in a surprising landslide Wednesday night, capping an energized finale filled with big stars and polished performances. Cook was overcome with emotion, bending toward the stage after his name was announced. When he stood up, his eyes were filled with tears, the second time in as many nights that the scruffy, grainy-voiced belter had broken down. Cook, 25, from Blue Springs, swamped Archuleta, 17, of Murray, Utah, by a margin of 12 million votes out of the record 97.5 million casts by viewers. I really expected that Archuleta will win this Idol because of his annoyingly good voice and has chosen smart songs. Clearly, he’s in it for the win with a multitude of screaming fans praising his talent and charisma. But on the other hand, Cook is sincere, creative...
