Television’s longest running program is celebrating its 30th year in a special way by giving tribute to ordinary people whose deeds touch the world around them. Each deed may be quiet and small. But together, countless small actions can be likened to many lighted candles that can turn darkness to light. Each small and heartfelt action is like a seed that grows into a tree that bears many fruits. By showing the actions of ordinary heroes, Eat Bulaga hopes to influence positively the lives on millions of viewers. On Saturday, 14 November 2009, I am one of the 10 Eat Bulaga Heroes selected from various sectors and areas all over the Philippines. As pilot episode, a short documentary/tribute about me and my group, the T’nalak Youth Group will also be shown on primetime television. Muli, samahan niyo po kaming humabi ng mga pangarap para sa edukasyon ng lahat na kabataan na gustong makapagtapos ng pag-aaral. Batid po naming wala pong mas matamis na tagumpay kung di ang ibahagi it...

The Echo Movie Review

Image
“The next time you hear a knock at your door, be careful... you never know what's on the other side.” This acclaimed Filipino thriller Sigaw (The Echo) is remade into a movie-for-Hollywood. Yam Laranas, the co-writer and director for Sigaw, directed this remake. Screening begins September 30, 2009 here in Philippines and will star Jesse Bradford of the ‘Flags of our Fathers’ fame. On the premiere night, I found myself jumping on seat at certain scene. I admit Laranas had me freaked out. This feeling is reinforced when it occurs again and there is no child, just the camera hinting at the movements of someone. An excellent method of building unease in the audience, lighting and camerawork are excellent. I must also say, it is a real stunner -worth seeing at least once.

Instituto Cervantes stages the grandest Spanish film festival in Asia

It’s a triple treat for film buffs as Instituto Cervantes de Manila brings back Película, the biggest annual Spanish Film Festival in Asia, at chosen venues in Metro Manila from October 1 to 31. Due to the past successes of its first seven seasons, organizers have doubled the number of films (this year more than 40!), gone from one to three venues and lengthened the film festival. Cultural events have also been calendared, in line with the theme of this year’s festival: Locos por el cine or Adik sa Pelikula. Continue reading here... the art of cooking pansit canton

Last day, I bought six packs of pancit canton ( three sweet and spicy and three toyo mansi – savory of soy sause and calamansi concoction). On that same day that afternoon while raining, I cooked two packs of the sweet and spicy canton. I boiled two glasses of tap then dunked my two square-shaped noodles for three minutes. While cooking my noodles like an Italian chef, I cut one by one the tip of the flavoring packs and seasonings using my incisors, mixed them together until they look like baby shit. After three minutes, using the lid of the pot, I drained the noodles. Just a friendly reminder, be careful as you could get yourself burned. So I suggest you get a tee-shirt from your heaping laundry bag, using it as pot holder, and stealthily tip the pot to about a 65 degrees angle then gradually increasing the recline until you reach 90. Let the urine-colored water to flow and drain completely. After that, voila! I perfectly cooked my noodles. Pansit canton is always my most satisfying...
